Temperature Sensor
In industrial projects, environmental conditions are always important and influential factors that must be taken into account. .
One of the most important factors in this regard is undoubtedly temperature.
Special sensors are used to measure temperature, which are commonly known as temperature sensors .
Types of Temperature Sensors :
Contact Temperature Sensor
Non-Contact Temperature Sensor

Temperature Sensor Contact :
Contact sensors for measuring temperature can be classified into two main categories.
–Thermocouple (TC)
– RTD
Thermocouple
A thermocouple consists of two dissimilar metals, each with different thermal transfer coefficients. Due to this property, when they sense heat, they exhibit different behaviors, which generates a voltage between the two metals. This voltage difference indicates the temperature. The type of metals used to construct the thermocouple determines...
There are different types of thermocouples, among which the most important include types J, K, T, E, and others.
Thermocouple temperature sensors are highly accurate, with a precision of approximately one degree Celsius.
Thermocouples have specific temperature ranges, which indicate the span of temperatures within which the thermocouple can measure accurately. Depending on these temperature ranges, thermocouples come in different types, each with varying prices.
RTD Temperature Sensor (RTD):
The Resistance Temperature Detector, abbreviated as RTD, is a temperature sensor that operates based on resistance. These sensors use a resistance that varies with temperature, and by measuring the change in resistance, the amount of temperature change can be determined.
In general, RTDs can be classified into 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire types. The 4-wire models are more expensive, while the 2-wire models have lower accuracy; therefore, 3-wire RTDs are more commonly used in industry.
RTD sensors are more accurate than thermocouple sensors, with a precision of about 0.1°C, and they also have faster response times. The most well-known RTD sensors include PT100, PT1000, and NTC.
