In control valves, it is used to provide the necessary force for opening and closing the valve and adjusting its position.

The most commonly used type of actuator in industry is the pneumatic type, as it is relatively inexpensive, and compressed air is often available in most workshops. Additionally, due to its simpler operation compared to other types, its maintenance and repair are easier.

The operation of this system consists of three stages:

• Compressed air generation: This is usually carried out by a compressor.

• Compressed air distribution: This is the most critical part of the system, and the proper selection of valves, regulators, and fittings in this section is very important.

• Speed control and energy transfer: The energy transfer can be controlled by increasing or decreasing the air pressure, and for this purpose, a pressure regulator is used.

Types of Pneumatic Actuators:

• Double Acting Pneumatic Actuator

 Spring Return Pneumatic Actuators, also known as Single Acting Pneumatic Actuators, are pneumatic actuators with spring return, designed to operate in a single-acting mode.
