Display or Indicator
Indicator
In the field of instrumentation, a device called an indicator is used to display the values of physical process parameters to operators and users in an industrial unit. These devices usually do not perform functions such as transmitting values like a transmitter or controlling them like a controller. A simple example of this instrument is the Bourdon tube pressure gauge or bimetallic dial thermometers. In more advanced instruments, digital models are available with features such as recording maximum and minimum values or additional functionalities. In instrumentation, the names of these devices often include the suffix METER, such as flowmeter, level meter, or thermometer. Additionally, in instrumentation diagrams, the suffix I, standing for Indicator, is used, for example, PI which refers to a Pressure Indicator, equivalent to a pressure gauge.
