Pressure Switch or Pressure Controller
Pressure switches and pressure controllers are widely used in industry to regulate tank pressure and prevent overpressure in pressurized environments.
Typically, a pressure switch operates mechanically, similar to a pressure gauge, using Bourdon tubes, diaphragms, or bellows. At the set point, it activates a relay and, through its On/Off contacts, functions as a controller. Depending on the application environment, pressure switches can also be explosion-proof.

In digital and electronic models, strain gauges are used instead of Bourdon tubes or diaphragms. The output is typically provided via PNP or NPN transistors. More advanced models also feature a 4–20 mA output and a display.
When selecting a pressure switch, the following factors should be considered:
Operating Range
Set point, maximum allowable pressure, pressure controller, and suitability for use in explosive environments.
Pressure Switch IP Rating and Connection Method
Pressure Controller Connection and Accuracy
Pressure Controller Repeatability
