One of the oldest methods for measuring liquid levels is based on the buoyancy of objects in the liquid, with changes displayed through a connected indicator. This mechanical method, besides being easy to use, can also be applied in special tank conditions, such as high pressure and temperature.

A float is a type of level controller that offers high maneuverability in tanks, with the entire device floating inside the tank. These floats come with various cable lengths and can be used for all types of liquids in different tanks. The operation of these float level switches is very simple: the device may contain a switch or a mercury contact, or a metal ball that changes position as the float moves. This movement opens or closes the electrical circuit, sending an ON/OFF signal to other devices in the system.

Level switches are used in industries such as oil, gas, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, food, and power plants.
