Applications and Methods

Today, the use of various types of flow meters and the necessity of employing these devices are well recognized. Among the different methods for measuring the flow rate of a fluid through a specific cross-section, reliance is primarily placed on two common measurement techniques.

• Based on the volumetric flow rate of the fluid

• Based on creating a pressure differential in the fluid flow path

Each of these two methods has its own advantages and disadvantages.

The fluid flow differential pressure equation exists in two forms:

Bernoulli Equation and Continuity Equation

The flow rate is calculated based on the Bernoulli and continuity equations, using the fluid parameters and the measured pressure differential.
