Hydrostatic Pressure Sensors
These sensors can be installed underwater or in open environments and are suitable for measuring the level of corrosive liquids in deep tanks and reservoirs. Available sensors cover ranges from 10 mbar to 100 bar.
Hydrostatic level meters (or height sensors) measure liquid level based on pressure measurement principles. They offer high accuracy and reliable performance, typically using a float probe placed inside the liquid tank. These devices are also designed with explosion-proof (EX) properties.

All About Hydrostatic Pressure Sensors
This level measurement device includes a pressure sensor that measures the hydrostatic pressure of the liquid column. Hydrostatic pressure is directly proportional to the liquid height. The variety of available pressure measurement instruments has made this method widely used for liquid level measurement. The measured pressure equals the pressure of the liquid column plus the surface pressure. It is noteworthy that in atmospheric tanks, the surface pressure is equal to the atmospheric pressure.
If the liquid surface pressure is higher or lower than atmospheric pressure, a differential pressure sensor is used. In such cases, the applied surface pressure is subtracted from the total pressure so that only the pressure of the liquid column is calculated.
It should be noted that in all liquid level measurement methods based on column pressure, the fluid density must be accurately known, as relatively large temperature changes can affect the fluid density. Therefore, all these devices, including hydrostatic level meters, incorporate temperature compensation. The most common type of transducer used in these devices is piezoelectric.
