What is a Thermometer?
One of the important parameters in industrial units is the system temperature. Depending on the requirements, in addition to measuring the temperature, thermometers often have the capability to generate a control signal and also function as a switch.
Temperature measurement methods can be classified as contact and non-contact. The contact method involves the use of a sensor, which can be a thermocouple or a resistance thermometer (PT100). In analog models, this measurement is often performed using a bimetallic mechanism or a gas-filled system consisting of a bulb and a capillary tube.
The non-contact measurement method primarily relies on the infrared radiation emitted by the target object to its surroundings. These thermometers are known as pyrometers, gun-type, or laser thermometers. The term "laser" is used because a laser beam is employed to indicate the target.
