Self-Heating Phenomenon in Sensors
The self-heating phenomenon usually occurs in resistive sensors. RTD and NTC sensors, due to their resistive output, generate heat within the sensor when connected to their respective measurement cards or controllers, as current passes through them. This heat causes measurement errors, making self-heating a disadvantage of resistive sensors. In contrast, this phenomenon does not occur in thermocouples.
